Kerenzertunnel (CH)
The Kerenzer Tunnel is a single tube tunnel almost 5.8 kilometers long, located along Walensee Lake in eastern Switzerland. Through the tunnel runs the carriageway towards Sargans of the A3. The other direction of travel is largely outdoors, but does house a few tunnels, including the Weisswand Tunnel. The tunnel passes through Kerenzerberg, a plateau above Lake Walensee at an altitude of about 740 meters.
The existing ventilation system will be completely replaced. An exhaust system with concentrated extraction with a total of 4 exhaust fans (2 each in the service buildings Gäsi Sisto and Tiefenwinkel SiSto) and a longitudinal ventilation system consisting of 10 jet fans will be installed. In the newly constructed escape tunnel, a total of 2 escape fans will be installed (one in the control center Gäsi SiSto and one in the cavern of the Tiefenwinkel sluice). The existing systems will be decommissioned. The goal is safe operation, compliance with current guidelines and long-term availability of the ventilation system.
